We try not to get all worked up about sequels, prequels, remakes and reboots - we really do. They've been a part of the movie landscape since forever and they ain't going away. But making prequels and sequels for a film as iconic and awesome as "Blade Runner" is simply uncalled for.

Nonetheless, Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove of Alcon Entertainment, the folks who brought you "The Blind Side" and "Book of Eli," are in talks with Bud Yorkin, producer of the original, to buy the all-inclusive rights - except for a remake - to "Blade Runner."

“We are honored and excited to be in business with Bud Yorkin," read a joint statement from Johnson and Kosove. "This is a major acquisition for our company, and a personal favorite film for both of us. We recognize the responsibility we have to do justice to the memory of the original with any prequel or sequel we produce. We have long-term goals for the franchise, and are exploring multi-platform concepts, not just limiting ourselves to one medium only.”

They can get Tom Hardy to play Deckard, Marion Cotillard for Rachel, if they wait a few years Chloe Grace Moretz can play Pris, Sam Worthington can play Roy Batty, Matt Damon as Gaff, Michale Chiklis as Bryant... It's gonna be great!

EXCLUSIVE: Universal Pictures has acquired domestic distribution rights to Tinker, Tailor, Solder, Spy, the Tomas Alfredson-directed adaptation of the John Le Carre novel that stars Gary Oldman, freshly minted Oscar winner Colin Firth, Tom Hardy, Mark Strong and Ciaran Hinds. The rights were held by Studiocanal, and the film was produced by Working Title. Universal is eyeing a November or December release for the picture, which is in post production. Script was written by Bridget O'Connor and Peter Straughan.

The project was one of the hottest titles shopped in Berlin, where buyers watched several minutes of footage and read the script for Afredson’s follow-up to Let the Right One In. I’m told that Universal, through its first look deal with Working Title partners Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner, had a first look that it initially didn’t exercise. Then the picture got hot, with The Weinstein Company and Summit Entertainment chasing it hard. I’ve heard the bidding was in the vicinity of $5 million for domestic rights before Universal swooped in and took the project off the table. Studiocanal, which fully financed the film, will distribute in the UK, France and Germany and is handling international sales throughout the rest of the world. Bevan and Fellner produce with Robyn Slovo, with Liza Chasin, Le Carre, Peter Morgan, Douglas Urbanski and Debra Hayward exec producing.

Pic is about an ex-Marine (Hardy) who returns home and enlists his father (Nick Nolte) to train him for an MMA tournament awarding the biggest prize in the history of the sport. Complications arise when his estranged brother also decides to fight in the tournament.

Warrior has finally been given a release date and will launch into theaters on September 9, 2011!

Is the rumor true?

Batman-on-Film says that the rumor Tom Hardy will play Professor Hugo Strange in the upcoming Dark Knight Rises are false.

In fact, they're wondering if Strange will be in the movie at all - they believe all of the Strange rumors come from the character being the main villain in the new Batman: Arkham Asylum game.

The rumor was that Dark Knight Rises would draw its plot from the Legends of The Dark Knight comic story arc "Prey", which features Batman battling "Hugo Strange, a psychiatrist appointed by the mayor to the GCPD task force dedicated to taking down Batman - led by Jim Gordon. Strange, an oddball himself, becomes obsessed with Batman, and hypnotizes Max Cort, a brutish detective on the task force, into becoming a masked vigilante himself."

No plot details have been officially confirmed by Christopher Nolan.

Poor things. I truly feel sorry for both Reese Witherspoon and Tom Hardy for having to spend yet another day kissing each other while filming their new movie This Means War in Canada.

The due dived in for kisses and hugs as the shot in a restaurant and they were later seen listening to an iPod together between takes. What a job, right?

The film follows two lifelong best friends, played by Hardy and Star Trek star Chris Pine, who pit themselves against each other after they both fall in love with the same woman, played by Witherspoon.

Witherspoon is dating Hollywood agent Jim Toth and Hardy is expected to wed Charlotte Riley next year.

Now we’ll just get Chris Pine dating someone…

Bloody-Disgusting has learned that busy young actor Tom Hardy has been offered a role in Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.

In the Seth Grahame-Smith novel, Abraham Lincoln learns that his mother didn't really die of "milk sickness" but rather at the hands of an evil vampire who was collecting a debt.

Tom Hardy could play Henry Sturgess, a vampire who saves Lincoln and then becomes his mentor, teaching him the true nature of good and evil vampires. Sturgess trains Lincoln in the art of combat and teaches him how to track down and hunt evil vampires.

It isn't said if Tom Hardy has accepted the role or not. Timur Bekmambetov will direct the movie from an adapted script by Seth Grahame-Smith.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter comes to theaters June 22nd, 2012. The film is directed by Timur Bekmambetov.

It’s amazing what being in a big budget critically loved action movie can do for a person’s career. Fresh off his role in Christopher Nolan’s Inception, studios are tripping over themselves to get this man in their movies. The latest offering at the feet of Tom Hardy is the role of Henry Sturges in the upcoming movie Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter [Bloody Disgusting].

Adapted from the book by Seth Grahame-Smith, the story mixes horror with history as it follows Abraham Lincoln’s secret campaign to eradicate vampires after he finds out that they killed his mother when he was nine years old. In the book, Sturges is a vampire who rescues Lincoln when he is sixteen years old from a vampire attack. Nursing him back to health, he teaches the young soon to be President about vampirism and helps train him so he is better equipped to deal with the menace. Think of him as the Merrick to Abraham Lincoln’s Buffy (yeah that’s right I like the 1992 movie more, big whoop wanna fight about it?).

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter will be directed by Timur Bekmambetov and produced by Tim Burton, and it’s tentatively slated for June 22, 2012.

Should Tom Hardy teach our greatest president to lay the smack down on vampires, or should the role go to someone else?

This morning's big news eliminated The Riddler from contention in Christopher Nolan's Batman sequel The Dark Knight Rises, but has only managed to make people more curious about who the film's main baddie will be. Killer Croc? Black Mask? Clay Face? Whoever the character is, most expect that the role will be played by Tom Hardy, who was mysteriously cast in the film two weeks ago to the day. The main challenge is figuring out the perfect bad guy that can both fit into Nolan's hyper-real universe and follow the plotline created at the end of The Dark Knight. IMDb may have a possible answer.

On the page, which has been updated with the new title, Hardy is now listed as playing Det. Harvey Bullock. While this could normally be written off as simple IMDb gossip (the site has posted Joseph Gordon-Levitt as The Riddler before), what makes it worth reporting is that it fits so damn well. First appearing in 1975, Bullock is a member of the Gotham Police Department and a crooked one at that. Though he has the entire force lying for him, the character has a streak of police brutality and has known connections to organized crime. At the same time, the man is tough as nails and an effective detective.

Could Bullock be the man that Commissioner Gordon brings in to hunt down the caped crusader? Hardy definitely has the skills for the part and would probably look damn good in a fedora and a trench coat. Though IMDb casts lists are known to be spurious and based on little-to-no information, there could be some reality here. Sound off in the comments section.

Ladies and gentlemen, suck in your bellies and try not to breathe in for a little while — we're going back to Mars, and Arnold Schwarzenegger is nowhere in sight.

According to Heat Vision, director Len Wiseman's "Total Recall" reboot is set to go before cameras in late March of next year with Neal Moritz and Original Film producing from a script written by Kurt Wimmer. But there's more to the story than a production start: according to the report, the three front runners to replace Schwarzenegger are Colin Farrell, Tom Hardy and Michael Fassbender.

Farrell is considered the front runner, and it's not hard to understand why. Having just finished filming "Fright Night" and "Horrible Bosses," Farrell's schedule is considerably less packed than both Hardy and Fassbender's.

Hardy is currently shooting "This Means War" opposite Chris Pine and Reese Witherspoon, and he plans to follow that project with a lead role in Christopher Nolan's "Batman 3." Fassbender, meanwhile, is dabbling in comic book fare himself, replacing Ian McKellen in the role of Magneto for director Matthew Vaughn's "X-Men: First Class," currently in production in England.

Deadline reports that Hardy is set to get a lead role in the upcoming Batman sequel. It’s unclear what the part will be, although based on the virtuosic crazy he demonstrated in Bronson, I’m hoping it’ll be a villainous one. In fact, it’s actually a pretty strong possibility that he’ll end up playing a certain green-suited cryptic criminal instead of Gordon-Levitt, although others have speculated that he might be good as the Killer Croc. I’ll wager that if Nolan has expressed in the past that the Penguin is too far-fetched a baddie for his Gotham, him including a green-scaled crocodile-man in the next sequel is an unlikely bet. Mr. Freeze is also probably out, if only because Schwarzenegger’s terrible puns left so many people cold (sorry!), as well as the possibility of he being Heath Ledger’s replacement as the Joker, since Nolan has said he won’t do that. Personally, if he’s not the Riddler, I could see him as Black Mask or Hush, if only to have a villain that was created in the decades since the days of Cesar Romero and Frank Gorshin.

Things are not looking good for Mad Max: Fury Road. George Miller’s fourth Mad Max adventure has hit another road block – meaning that the film won’t start filming until 2012, at the earliest.

It’s the second delay for the film (which is scheduled for back-to-back shooting with a sequel, Furiosa) in recent months and there are reports that the reboot might even be scrapped – as the price of the Australian dollar rises.

The action adventure film, which is currently set to star Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron, was postponed in July because an unexpected amount of rain left proposed shooting locations too green for George Miller’s vision of a post apocalyptic world. Pre-production has already started on the film with millions spent – some rumors even state that some stunt work has already been filmed.

However, the crew have now been told that filming will not begin until February 2012.

Talk show personality Chelsea Handler has landed a big role in the upcoming film “This Means War.” The film is a comedy from 20th Century Fox and will begin filming later in October.

In the film Handler will star alongside Reese Witherspoon, Tom Hardy, and Chris Pine. Handler will play the best friend and confidante of Witherspoon’s character. The star of the film, Witherspoon’s character is the target of affection for two best friends who are CIA agents. The duo will wage a back and forth war of one-ups-manship in an effort to win Witherspoon’s heart.

Last we heard, production was delayed on George Miller's upcoming "Mad Max" flick, "Fury Road". The sort-of reboot/sort-of sequel stars Tom Hardy as the titular badass. He's joined by a growing cast that already includes Zoe Kravitz, Teresa Palmer, Adelaide Clemens, Charlize Theron and Nicholas Hoult. Now, The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Riley Keough is in talks to join the cast as one of the Five Wives, a group of women (Kravitz, Palmer and Clemens being three of them) whom Hardy's Max must protect. Keough, who debuted last year playing Marie Currie in the Kristen Stewart/Dakota Fanning-starring Runaways biopic "The Runaways", also happens to be the granddaughter of Elvis Presley.

It's great to see the cast filling out. THR also reports that production should get going again "early next year." So good news all around for fans of dystopian future-worlds.

Tom Hardy is a hot commodity these days. After his charismatic performance in Inception, it seems like everybody wants a piece! The British actor has just landed a new gig replacing Michael Fassbender in the film Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. According to a casting piece in The Daily Mail via The Playlist, Fassbender is busy shooting next year’s X-Men First Class and can’t commit to the project — cue Hardy.

Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy sounds like a film about a guy with way too many jobs but it’s actually a Cold War-set thriller. It tells “the story of a British Intelligence operative whose task is to delve into the world of Cold War espionage and root out a Soviet mole in the Circus, the highest echelon in the British Intelligence Services.”

Hardy will play Tricky’ Ricky Tarr, a British operative acquaintance who goes up against an old school, anti-James Bond type played by Gary Oldman. The film is based off the novel written by John Le Carre, which was adapted for the screen by Peter Morgan. Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy is directed by Tomas Alfredsson and co-stars Colin Firth, Benedict Cumberbatch, Ciaran Hinds, and Jared Harris.

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - Vancouver filming is getting underway on Reese Witherspoon's latest movie.

No stranger to comedy, Witherspoon charmed audiences in the "Legally Blonde" films, and now the 34-year old southern belle will star in the romantic comedy "This Means War."

She's the centre of attention in a film that has Chris Pine and Tom Hardy playing buddies engaged in a battle for the same woman. Hardy is not expected to be in Vancouver right away. He is finishing up work in New York on "Men in Black 3".

Filming on "This Means War" is expected to continue through to the first week in December.
