'Mad Max' to shoot in 2012

From TorontoSun:
Mad Max director George Miller has reassured fans the next installment in the film franchise is not in jeopardy despite heavy rainfall in Australia delaying the project until 2012.
The fourth movie in the series, Mad Max: Fury Road, is a remake of Mel Gibson's original 1979 action picture, with British actor Tom Hardy taking on the lead role.
Film bosses chose the outback town of Broken Hill for shooting because of its baron landscapes, but unusually high rainfall last year turned the desert setting into a "wonderful flower garden".
Filming has been pushed back until early 2012, sparking fears the movie may never happen - but Miller insists studio bosses and cast members are all committed to the venture.
He tells Sydney's Daily Telegraph, "We've built the vehicles. We've designed the movie. The principal cast is locked in. The film is funded. It's all ready to go. We just wait.
"All the contracts are signed. It's a locked-in film. It has been for 18 months now. We will restart pre-production later this year and begin early next year - weather permitting."
Charlize Theron and Nicholas Hoult also star in the movie.
Will Tom Hardy be in the leading role of Blade Runner sequel?

From NBCChicago:
We try not to get all worked up about sequels, prequels, remakes and reboots - we really do. They've been a part of the movie landscape since forever and they ain't going away. But making prequels and sequels for a film as iconic and awesome as "Blade Runner" is simply uncalled for.
Nonetheless, Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove of Alcon Entertainment, the folks who brought you "The Blind Side" and "Book of Eli," are in talks with Bud Yorkin, producer of the original, to buy the all-inclusive rights - except for a remake - to "Blade Runner."
“We are honored and excited to be in business with Bud Yorkin," read a joint statement from Johnson and Kosove. "This is a major acquisition for our company, and a personal favorite film for both of us. We recognize the responsibility we have to do justice to the memory of the original with any prequel or sequel we produce. We have long-term goals for the franchise, and are exploring multi-platform concepts, not just limiting ourselves to one medium only.”
They can get Tom Hardy to play Deckard, Marion Cotillard for Rachel, if they wait a few years Chloe Grace Moretz can play Pris, Sam Worthington can play Roy Batty, Matt Damon as Gaff, Michale Chiklis as Bryant... It's gonna be great!

Universal Pictures acquired domestic distribution rights to Tinker, Tailor, Solder, Spy

From DeadLine:
EXCLUSIVE: Universal Pictures has acquired domestic distribution rights to Tinker, Tailor, Solder, Spy, the Tomas Alfredson-directed adaptation of the John Le Carre novel that stars Gary Oldman, freshly minted Oscar winner Colin Firth, Tom Hardy, Mark Strong and Ciaran Hinds. The rights were held by Studiocanal, and the film was produced by Working Title. Universal is eyeing a November or December release for the picture, which is in post production. Script was written by Bridget O'Connor and Peter Straughan.
The project was one of the hottest titles shopped in Berlin, where buyers watched several minutes of footage and read the script for Afredson’s follow-up to Let the Right One In. I’m told that Universal, through its first look deal with Working Title partners Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner, had a first look that it initially didn’t exercise. Then the picture got hot, with The Weinstein Company and Summit Entertainment chasing it hard. I’ve heard the bidding was in the vicinity of $5 million for domestic rights before Universal swooped in and took the project off the table. Studiocanal, which fully financed the film, will distribute in the UK, France and Germany and is handling international sales throughout the rest of the world. Bevan and Fellner produce with Robyn Slovo, with Liza Chasin, Le Carre, Peter Morgan, Douglas Urbanski and Debra Hayward exec producing.

TOM HARDY receives his British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) trophy
TOM HARDY has finally received his British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) trophy, after snubbing the ceremony earlier this month (Feb11) to go on holiday.
The Inception actor landed the Rising Star Award ahead of fellow nominees Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Aaron Johnson and Gemma Arterton - but he was not at the ceremony to claim his prize.
Hardy admits he chose to miss the BAFTAs to go on holiday with fiancee Charlotte Riley and his son, Louis, from a previous relationship - because he never expected to land the prize.
He tells U.K. TV host Alan Carr, "I was about to go away to Georgia for six weeks and start a new film. I had a choice whether to go away before with my missus and my little boy or go to the BAFTAs.
"We watched it on TV and I was like, 'Oh no!' I never expected to win so thank you."
Carr presented Hardy with the award during an interview, which is set to air in the U.K. on Monday (21Feb11).

TDKR: Tom Hardy Goes Bald, Possible Confirmation Of Edward NashtonAnd from Batman-News:
Tom Hardy has been snapped with a significantly shorter new hairstyle, and we have a cryptic news paper clipping by a Mr Edward Nashton!..This will be a fairly speculative article so don't expect any definitive news updates. Anyway, first up..
![]()
Tom Hardy there. Even though he is wearing a cap we can see he is sporting a shaved head as well as some burgeoning facial hair. Coincidence or could he be gearing up to portray Dr Hugo Strange? There are other characters he could be prepping for of course.
The Dark Knight Rises script, Tom Hardy's new look?
Another story that’s been making the rounds today relate to the photos above of Tom Hardy. Hardy was photographed Sunday with what appears to be a beard and shaved head. This has lead to speculation that Hardy is already preparing for his role in The Dark Knight Rises, Hugo Strange perhaps? While it’s certainly possible, I wouldn’t jump to conclusions just yet. Tom Hardy is scheduled to film The Wettest County in the World before he shows up in Gotham City. I did a bit of digging and I’m not entirely sure if Hardy is completely bald under that hat. Photos of Hardy at a Lakers game last Friday are after the break. Does his hair look shorter in the photos above? Take a look and judge for yourself.

From allieiswired:
It appeared to us that Lindsay Lohan was trying to get closer to her ex-girlfriend, Samantha Ronson — but now we’re hearing that Sam’s not the one she’s after. It’s actually her rumored sober coach Tom Hardy.
Wait, what?
According to reports, Lindsay and Tom are more than friends and she really wants to be his main squeeze. I wonder what his girlfriend will have to say about this!
A source close to Lindsay says that “her heart is with Tom Hardy.” Okay, we’ll bite. This dude is super hot and has laid the smackdown on his own addictions, but what would he see in her?
The source said, “Lindsay loves how Tom has been sober for years, and she wants to make sure she follows in that path. He’s a good looking guy with a great career who has overcome some major obstacles. They’re perfect together. Lindsay hopes it will turn into a serious relationship. She’s really into him.”
Walk away, Tom! Lindsay is poison to your hotness!
He’s said to be engaged to Charlotte Riley, but this sounds like trouble.

From FemaleFirst:
Actors To Watch In 2011
2011 is going to be another huge year for films, so amongst the glitz and the glamour, there's a whole bunch of young new upstarts trying to break through and make their mark.
Some have made their mark and are set to make it bigger and some are about to make a fresh mark. Here's the 12 that you ought to look out for.
Here are six of the men you need to keep your eye on in the coming year.
Tom Hardy
Tom Hardy first came to the attention of the movie-going public in Black Hawk Down when he made his debut. However, his first big role came in the form of Bronson, the story of Charles Bronson, the man infamous for being the most violent prisoner in Britain.
Hardy grew his own moustache and shaved his head for the role and along the way he impressed a certain director who goes by the name of Christopher Nolan. He appeared in 2010's Inception, one of the biggest films of the year and had one of the standout roles in that.
He will appear in Christopher Nolan's next film, The Dark Knight Rises. It's a small film about a vigilante who dresses up as a bat, you may have heard of it. Rumours are, that he will play one of the main villains.
He's also widely reported to be taking over from Mel Gibson in the new Mad Max film and will be appearing in a Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy remake. Keep your eyes on Tom Hardy, you might be looking at a future superstar.

Eames' quote is the 3rd funniest movie quote of 2010

MovieFone choose The 10 Funniest Movie Quotes of 2010 and Tom Hardy as Eames is number 3:
The not-so-gentle art of scene stealing is a complex affair, depending on the right actor, the right scene and the right dialogue. And you don't have to be the lead to steal a scene. In fact, a lot of scenes are stolen with pithy quotes by supporting stars or new faces.
That's the main theme to be found in Moviefone's roundup of the funniest movie quotes of 2010. Our list includes a slew of scene stealers like Tom Hardy in 'Inception' and Stu "Large" Riley in 'Kick-Ass,' both actors who took lines that could have been throwaways and turned them into some of the most memorable movie moments of the year.
Heck, two of the actors who delivered the quotes on our list, Johnny Simmons and Armie Hammer, are so fresh-faced we haven't even had a chance to build pages for them on Moviefone.
After you're done checking our list, let us know in the comments if there are any movie quotes you loved this year that we didn't catch.

From TheSun:
TOM HARDY will win big awards for acting in the future - but none will match Best Actor in the 2010 Biz Awards.
The London lad was superb as Eames in Hollywood blockbuster Inception.
And here he is back in 1998 winning a modelling competition on The Big Breakfast in association with The Sun.
The star left this message from Istanbul, where he is filming: "Thanks a million to The Sun. I will celebrate this achievement with you in the pub on my return to London."
The list of films he has signed up for is seriously impressive, with the remake of Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy and the next Batman movie just two of them.

Will Tom Hardy Play Hugo Strange In Dark Knight Rises?

Edit Post
From 411Mania.com:
Is the rumor true?
Batman-on-Film says that the rumor Tom Hardy will play Professor Hugo Strange in the upcoming Dark Knight Rises are false.
In fact, they're wondering if Strange will be in the movie at all - they believe all of the Strange rumors come from the character being the main villain in the new Batman: Arkham Asylum game.
The rumor was that Dark Knight Rises would draw its plot from the Legends of The Dark Knight comic story arc "Prey", which features Batman battling "Hugo Strange, a psychiatrist appointed by the mayor to the GCPD task force dedicated to taking down Batman - led by Jim Gordon. Strange, an oddball himself, becomes obsessed with Batman, and hypnotizes Max Cort, a brutish detective on the task force, into becoming a masked vigilante himself."
No plot details have been officially confirmed by Christopher Nolan.

Shia LaBeouf to swim in lake Tommy Hardy

One more article about the rumors of Tom in a movie with Shia LaBeouf from LA Times Blog:
The hot young acting pair will team up to make “The Wettest County in the World,” a Prohibition-era dramatic thriller from director John Hillcoat (“The Road”), according to two people familiar with the film.
LaBeouf, who had previously been mentioned in conjunction with the project, and Hardy, who hadn’t, will both be taking a turn to period pieces. LaBeouf did star in the golf movie “The Greatest Game in the World” but is of course best known for action movies and thrillers.
Hardy, meanwhile, was in adaptations such as “Wuthering Heights” and “Black Hawk Down” but is best known for his role as the agent Eames in “Inception” this summer, and he has an as yet unrevealed part in “The Dark Knight Rises.” (He’s also currently shooting the Reese Witherspoon romantic comedy “This Means War.”)Nick Cave wrote the screenplay for “County” (speaking of teen pinups, albeit from another era). The film is based on a novel from Matt Bondurant about a family of Prohibition-era bootleggers, and crimes committed by and against them. The movie, an independently financed project that’s being produced by the producers of “Jarhead” and “Girl, Interrupted,” aims to begin shooting in the spring.
The firming up of LaBeouf and Hardy for “County” does put a pin, at least for the moment, in “College Republicans,” in which LaBeouf was to play a young Lee Atwater and, sources say, Paul Dano a young Karl Rove, in the “Social Network”-esque story about the two conservative kingmakers in college.
That would have been juicy. But to see LaBeouf and Hardy as bootleggers may be worth the wait.
Thanks ShiaLaBeoufDaily

From The Frisky:
We were delighted to hear that Tom Hardy is going to be starring in a new film with Shia LaBeouf called “The Wettest County in the World.” Hardy caught our attention in “Inception” and then raised our eyebrows by divulging that he’d had sex with both women and men. Said Hardy in an interview earlier this year:
“Of course I have. I’m an actor for f**k’s sake. I’ve played with everything and everyone. I love the form and the physicality, but now that I’m in my thirties, it doesn’t do it for me. I’m done experimenting but there’s plenty of stuff in a relationship with another man, especially gay men, that I need in my life. A lot of gay men get my thing for shoes. I have definite feminine qualities and a lot of gay men are incredibly masculine. A lot of people say I seem masculine, but I don’t feel it. I feel intrinsically feminine. I’d love to be one of the boys but I always felt a bit on the outside. Maybe my masculine qualities come from overcompensating because I’m not one of the boys.”
He later claimed the quote was taken out of context and he didn’t really mean it. We don’t really believe that. Actually, we don’t really WANT to believe that, because bisexuality is pretty hot, we think. After the jump, nine more supposedly bisexual dudes.
Tom Hardy Is Moviefone's Breakout Star of 2010

From MovieFone:
He deserve, doesn't?
When we look back at the year in movies, we're faced with a number of high-profile disappointments. Remember 'Prince of Persia,' 'Knight and Day' or 'Clash of the Titans'? Us neither.
But despite lukewarm enthusiasm at the box office, 2010 wasn't all bad.
The past 12 months have brought us some of the best animated fare in recent history, with 'Toy Story 3' and 'How to Train Your Dragon' enthralling audiences of all ages, while our digital age and all its eccentricities were placed under a microscope like never before with the release of two equally compelling "Facebook" movies, 'The Social Network' and 'Catfish.'
But even more importantly, 2010 gave us 'Inception,' and with it, Christopher Nolan gave us the gift that keeps on giving: Tom Hardy.
'Inception' was a masterful, visual tour de force from Nolan and his entire cast (and if we were to give a runner-up prize for breakout star, we're fairly sure that co-star Joseph Gordon-Levitt would've been a shoo-in too), but when considering actors who have made the greatest impact over the past 365 days, it's hard to hone in on anyone but Hardy, whose career has gone from zero to 60 in the time it takes to utter one immortal line: "You mustn't be afraid to dream a little bigger, darling."
He deserve, doesn't?

Shia LaBeouf And Tom Hardy Back In For John Hillcoat's Prohibition Drama
2:04 PM | Posted by
Byzinha |
Edit Post
From CinemaBland:
At the very end of 2009 The Road director John Hillcoat sounded more than a little depressed when he was forced to announce that his follow-up project, the Prohibition-era family drama The Wettest County in the World, had fallen apart when the financiers backed out. He took it as yet another death knell for the independent film industry, and at the time didn't seem to have much faith that the project could get back on its feet.
Now almost an entire year later, the movie seems to be back in action again, with Shia LaBeouf and Tom Hardy now considered for the lead roles. According to The LA Times the film is back in action with the screenplay from Nick Cave that Hillcoat was working from previously, based on Matt Bondurant's historical novel about a family of criminal and bootleggers operating out of Virginia. Last year, when the project seemed close to getting made the first time, LaBeouf was on board to star with Ryan Gosling and Michale Shannon as his bootlegging brothers and Amy Adams in an unspecified female role. It's no surprise to see that Shannon has bailed-- his role on Boardwalk Empire is probably enough Prohibition for him for now-- but it seems possible that Gosling could come back, especially if the role Hardy is taking is the one originally meant for Shannon.
They're aiming now to start shooting in the spring, and it's not clear how that might conflict with Hardy's existing commitment to Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises (and I can't imagine he'd bail on that for this film, no matter how promising it is). I'll be thrilled if they can keep Hardy, but if this movie has the kind of sturdy roles it seems to, plenty of other actors will be anxious to get on board as well.

Mad Men's Abigail Spencer Is Tom Hardy's Ex In This Means War

Edit Post
From Cinema Blend:
Abigail Spencer's character Miss Farrell was a low point of last season's Mad Men for me, marking the last extramarital affair Don Draper would have and the one with the least logic. What did he see in that naive hippie? Why wouldn't he just get it together and run back to Rachel Menken? These are the questions we Mad Men fans ask ourselves in between seasons, and believe me, it's torturous.
Anyway, Spencer has managed to move on from her irritating character to great fame and fortune, snagging a role in Jon Favreau's Cowboys & Aliens and now, according to THR, signing on to McG's This Means War. In the action comedy about two rival spies (Chris Pine and Tom Hardy) who spar over the love of the same woman (Reese Witherspoon), Spencer will play the ex-wife of Hardy's character. It's unclear if she'll be a spy herself or just more of a background figure, but given that her name is significantly less famous than the rest of her co-stars, she's presumably just glad to be in there at all. Best of luck to her, especially if she leaves Miss Farrell's Bowdoin running clothes behind.

From MTV.com:
Christian Bale Excited To Star With Tom Hardy In 'Dark Knight Rises''He seems like he's a balls-out actor,' Bale says of the 'Inception' star.
Who will Tom Hardy play in "The Dark Knight Rises"? Rumor has it the "Inception" actor is set to become a villain, though director Christopher Nolan has gone on record as saying the Riddler won't factor into his upcoming third installment of the "Batman" reboot. There's talk that Hardy would do well in the role of troubled psychologist Hugo Strange, crime lord Black Mask or gun-toting hit man Deadshot.
Whoever Hardy ends up portraying, the man he'll likely do battle against is excited for the opportunity to act with him. "I liked him in 'Inception' and I did see 'Bronson' as well," said Christian Bale — Bruce Wayne/Batman himself — in a recent interview with MTV News. "He seems like he's a balls-out actor."

From Entertainment Weekly:
Rumors circulated today that Inception‘s Tom Hardy is in talks to take a pivotal role in Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. According to Moviefone, Hardy would play Sturges, a vampire mentor to young Abraham Lincoln. (Fox is producing AL: VH and would not comment on Hardy’s involvement in the film.) Combined with his mysterious lead role in Batman 3, Hardy is just a couple of years away from pop culture ubiquity. In fact, if you look at his career track closely, you find a striking array of similarities to his Dark Knight Rises co-star, Christian Bale.
Both Bale and Hardy were talented young actors who had an embarrassing (and potentially career-killing) role in a box office bomb in their younger days. Hardy played Captain Picard’s Romulan clone in Star Trek: Nemesis (which is actually better than its reputation), and Christian Bale played a singin’, dancin’, unionizin’ newsboy in Newsies (which is actually worse than its reputation). Both of them came back into prominence after playing jacked-up psychopaths (Bale in American Psycho, Hardy in Bronson.) They’re both totally Frolan (Friends of Chris Nolan). If you count Hardy stepping in for Mel Gibson in Mad Max 4, which is still set to film someday, then both actors have lead roles in post-apocalyptic reboot-fourquels. (Bale’s post-apocalyptic project being 2009′s Terminator Salvation.) Ow, my brain!
PopWatchers, do you think Tom Hardy’s 2012 will look like Christian Bale’s 2005? Would you like to see him in Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, or should he be looking for artier fare to offset his expanding Nolanography?

From GossipCop:
“Reese Witherspoon’s chemistry with a co-star is driving his fiancee crazy,” claims a piece in this week’s In Touch magazine.
Witherspoon is currently shooting her new film, This Means War, with Inception star Tom Hardy. And, according to the tab, Hardy’s fiancee Charlotte Riley is supposedly getting jealous that the “onscreen lovers’ friendship is blossoming off-camera as well.”
A so-called “source” for the tab says Riley flew to the Vancouver set to make sure Hardy “behaves himself.”
Her cause for concern?
“Reese and Tom listened to music and laughed between takes on November 11,” the mag reports, adding the co-stars “spend hours together every day.”
And…?
“They are genuinely having a great time filming this movie,” notes the “source.”
Wait!
They “spend hours together” and are having “a great time filming”?
Clearly, they are, you know…
Making a movie together.
That’s all.
An actual, reliable source on the set tells Gossip Cop that Star’s claims are “ridiculous.”
Witherspoon and Hardy are “professionals,” says the source, who further relates that they basically do their jobs, and then go home.
Ooh, scandalous!
