'Inception,' 'Walking Dead' Top Saturn Awards Nominations

Inception dominated the Saturn Award nominations, announced Wednesday by the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror, with a total of nine mentions.

The films Let Me In and Tron: Legacy followed with seven nominations each.

On the TV side, The Walking Dead led with six noms, followed by Breaking Bad, Lost and Fringe with five noms apiece.

Inception was nominated for best-science fiction film alongside Hereafter, Iron Man 2, Never Let Me Go, Splice and Tron: Legacy.

The movie also earned noms for best actor (Leonardo DiCaprio, a double nominee, also for Shutter Island), best actress (Ellen Page) and best supporting actor (Tom Hardy).

The 33-year-old actor was joined by his Inception costar Leonardo DiCaprio, who sat two seats to his right during the game!

Earlier in the week, Tom attended the VES Awards where his film Inception scored four awards from the Visual Effects Society.

On Monday, Tom, who’s set to play the villain Bane in Christopher’s The Dark Knight Rises, was spotted wearing a Batman t-shirt while arriving at LAX.

Earlier this month, director Christopher Nolan announced that the 33-year-old British actor will be playing the villain Bane in The Dark Knight Rises.

Tom will star opposite Christian Bale and Anne Hathaway, who’s set to take on the role of Selina Kyle a.k.a. Catwoman!

Tom will play an escaped prisoner “who became abnormally strong after being pumped full of drugs.”

Warner Bros. Pictures announced today that Anne Hathaway has been cast as Selina Kyle in Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight Rises.” She will be starring alongside Christian Bale, who returns in the title role of Bruce Wayne/Batman.
Christopher Nolan stated, “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Anne Hathaway, who will be a fantastic addition to our ensemble as we complete our story.”
In addition, Tom Hardy has been set to play Bane. Nolan said, “I am delighted to be working with Tom again and excited to watch him bring to life our new interpretation of one of Batman’s most formidable enemies.”
Nolan will direct the film from a screenplay he wrote with Jonathan Nolan, from a story by Christopher Nolan and David S. Goyer. Nolan will also produce the film with his longtime producing partner, Emma Thomas, and Charles Roven.
“The Dark Knight Rises” is slated for release on July 20, 2012. The film will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

Tom Hardy has been snapped with a significantly shorter new hairstyle, and we have a cryptic news paper clipping by a Mr Edward Nashton!..

This will be a fairly speculative article so don't expect any definitive news updates. Anyway, first up..



Tom Hardy there. Even though he is wearing a cap we can see he is sporting a shaved head as well as some burgeoning facial hair. Coincidence or could he be gearing up to portray Dr Hugo Strange? There are other characters he could be prepping for of course.

The Dark Knight Rises script, Tom Hardy's new look?

Another story that’s been making the rounds today relate to the photos above of Tom Hardy. Hardy was photographed Sunday with what appears to be a beard and shaved head. This has lead to speculation that Hardy is already preparing for his role in The Dark Knight Rises, Hugo Strange perhaps? While it’s certainly possible, I wouldn’t jump to conclusions just yet. Tom Hardy is scheduled to film The Wettest County in the World before he shows up in Gotham City. I did a bit of digging and I’m not entirely sure if Hardy is completely bald under that hat. Photos of Hardy at a Lakers game last Friday are after the break. Does his hair look shorter in the photos above? Take a look and judge for yourself.

Despite playing a Star Trek villain nine years ago in a major Paramount film production and who this time last year SURELY should have been nominated (hell, he could have been Oscar shortlisted) for his lead role in Bronson – British actor Tom Hardy leads the shortlist of nominations for The Orange Wednesday Rising Star Award, described as “a unique BAFTA, in that the winner is voted for by the public”.

Hardy, whose flamboyant role in Inception, I guess, has finally caught the radar of Orange, is joined by new Spider-Man co-stars Andrew Garfield (The Social Network) and Emma Stone (Easy A), Kick-Ass and Nowhere Boy actor Aaron Johnson and Brit beauty Gemma Arterton.
