First Image Of Tom Hardy On 'The Dark Knight Rises' Set

From MTV Splash Page:
It's not an official photo of Tom Hardy as Bane, but the first shot of the "Inception" actor on the set of "The Dark Knight Rises" appears to have found its way online, courtesy of a fan.
Earlier this morning, Twitter user Ash Harper posted a photo of himself with Hardy, captioned, "Me and Tom Hardy (Bane) on set on the new Batman film!" And while a fan photo generally doesn't qualify as headline-grabbing material, the photo is worth a peek for anyone wondering about the visual element of Christopher Nolan's take on Bane.
The photo shows a clearly bulked-up Hardy with a shaved head — eerily reminiscent of his turn as the terrifying, real-life criminal Charles Bronson in "Bronson" (minus the mustache).
Ever since Hardy was first confirmed for the role of Bane, there's been no shortage of speculation regarding the character's portrayal in the Nolan-verse Batman films.
No one expected the character to resemble the oafish, campy brute that appeared in 1997's "Batman & Robin," but whether he'll look anything like his comics counterpart remains the big question. Given this shot of Hardy, it looks like fans can rest a little easier, as it appears that he's certainly getting in shape — and shaved — for a comics-faithful take on the role.

'Mad Max' to shoot in 2012

From TorontoSun:
Mad Max director George Miller has reassured fans the next installment in the film franchise is not in jeopardy despite heavy rainfall in Australia delaying the project until 2012.
The fourth movie in the series, Mad Max: Fury Road, is a remake of Mel Gibson's original 1979 action picture, with British actor Tom Hardy taking on the lead role.
Film bosses chose the outback town of Broken Hill for shooting because of its baron landscapes, but unusually high rainfall last year turned the desert setting into a "wonderful flower garden".
Filming has been pushed back until early 2012, sparking fears the movie may never happen - but Miller insists studio bosses and cast members are all committed to the venture.
He tells Sydney's Daily Telegraph, "We've built the vehicles. We've designed the movie. The principal cast is locked in. The film is funded. It's all ready to go. We just wait.
"All the contracts are signed. It's a locked-in film. It has been for 18 months now. We will restart pre-production later this year and begin early next year - weather permitting."
Charlize Theron and Nicholas Hoult also star in the movie.
Will Tom Hardy be in the leading role of Blade Runner sequel?

From NBCChicago:
We try not to get all worked up about sequels, prequels, remakes and reboots - we really do. They've been a part of the movie landscape since forever and they ain't going away. But making prequels and sequels for a film as iconic and awesome as "Blade Runner" is simply uncalled for.
Nonetheless, Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove of Alcon Entertainment, the folks who brought you "The Blind Side" and "Book of Eli," are in talks with Bud Yorkin, producer of the original, to buy the all-inclusive rights - except for a remake - to "Blade Runner."
“We are honored and excited to be in business with Bud Yorkin," read a joint statement from Johnson and Kosove. "This is a major acquisition for our company, and a personal favorite film for both of us. We recognize the responsibility we have to do justice to the memory of the original with any prequel or sequel we produce. We have long-term goals for the franchise, and are exploring multi-platform concepts, not just limiting ourselves to one medium only.”
They can get Tom Hardy to play Deckard, Marion Cotillard for Rachel, if they wait a few years Chloe Grace Moretz can play Pris, Sam Worthington can play Roy Batty, Matt Damon as Gaff, Michale Chiklis as Bryant... It's gonna be great!

Universal Pictures acquired domestic distribution rights to Tinker, Tailor, Solder, Spy

From DeadLine:
EXCLUSIVE: Universal Pictures has acquired domestic distribution rights to Tinker, Tailor, Solder, Spy, the Tomas Alfredson-directed adaptation of the John Le Carre novel that stars Gary Oldman, freshly minted Oscar winner Colin Firth, Tom Hardy, Mark Strong and Ciaran Hinds. The rights were held by Studiocanal, and the film was produced by Working Title. Universal is eyeing a November or December release for the picture, which is in post production. Script was written by Bridget O'Connor and Peter Straughan.
The project was one of the hottest titles shopped in Berlin, where buyers watched several minutes of footage and read the script for Afredson’s follow-up to Let the Right One In. I’m told that Universal, through its first look deal with Working Title partners Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner, had a first look that it initially didn’t exercise. Then the picture got hot, with The Weinstein Company and Summit Entertainment chasing it hard. I’ve heard the bidding was in the vicinity of $5 million for domestic rights before Universal swooped in and took the project off the table. Studiocanal, which fully financed the film, will distribute in the UK, France and Germany and is handling international sales throughout the rest of the world. Bevan and Fellner produce with Robyn Slovo, with Liza Chasin, Le Carre, Peter Morgan, Douglas Urbanski and Debra Hayward exec producing.

From TheBosh:
TOM HARDY receives his British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) trophy
TOM HARDY has finally received his British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) trophy, after snubbing the ceremony earlier this month (Feb11) to go on holiday.
The Inception actor landed the Rising Star Award ahead of fellow nominees Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Aaron Johnson and Gemma Arterton - but he was not at the ceremony to claim his prize.
Hardy admits he chose to miss the BAFTAs to go on holiday with fiancee Charlotte Riley and his son, Louis, from a previous relationship - because he never expected to land the prize.
He tells U.K. TV host Alan Carr, "I was about to go away to Georgia for six weeks and start a new film. I had a choice whether to go away before with my missus and my little boy or go to the BAFTAs.
"We watched it on TV and I was like, 'Oh no!' I never expected to win so thank you."
Carr presented Hardy with the award during an interview, which is set to air in the U.K. on Monday (21Feb11).
